M. Dumas & Sons deployed a new Oracle NetSuite ERP to replace their old Quickbooks accounting software. They needed this to be integrated with their Global Payments POS (formerly Heartland Retail) point of sale system. NetSuite recommended a connector, but it didn’t support the necessary two-way sync of data that was required for this use case.
M. Dumas & Sons was already deploying NetSuite, and in urgent need of the right integration solution. Their team needed a solution that would go above and beyond a simple connector.
For instance, M.Dumas & Sons has “house accounts”. These are shoppers that don’t pay via cash, credit, or other immediate forms of payment, but rather, are invoiced and pay after-the-fact. While this isn’t as common for retailers, it’s a great example of why M.Dumas & Sons has such strong relationships with long-term shoppers.
They needed an integration solution that was flexible enough to meet their needs, but not something that was going to leave them with loads of custom code to maintain. They wanted to remain focused on being a retailer, not a business saddled with technical debt.
The team at Global Payments recommended iPaaS.com as the right solution to meet both M. Dumas & Sons’ immediate and long-term goals. IPaaS.com introduced one of our MiSPs, OpenTeQ, to manage the implementation.
In the first phase, it was decided to focus on the dataflows between the POS and ERP. In a future phase, M.Dumas & Sons could also elect to flow data with other systems, such as their Shopify eCommerce website.
While many retailers have their source of truth of products in their ERP, due to the Purchase Order capabilities in the Global Payments POS, M. Dumas elected to keep their product (and inventory) master in the POS and flow that data down to NetSuite.
This allows their in-store teams to remain in the driver’s seat when it comes to merchandising, while simultaneously giving their accounting and operations team visibility into inventory and other key areas of the business.
M.Dumas & Sons needed a service provider to help scope their full requirements, implement the necessary dataflows through iPaaS.com, and assist with testing. OpenTeQ Technologies, an iPaaS.com Managed integration Service Provider (MiSP) Partner, was quickly chosen because of their understanding of iPaaS.com and vast experience with NetSuite. They were able to not only assist with implementing the iPaaS.com - they were able to provide consultation and recommendations around NetSuite best-practices as well.
Let’s build your integration strategy without the guesswork.
